What can a girl do for her terribly thin and fine hair?

I HATE my hair. I know it sounds quite ridiculous, but i have medium length, dark brown, wavy, VERY fine hair. No matter what I do to it it goes flat, frizzes, or bends in akward ways! I have tried just about everything, and nothing works! Does anybody out there have any good ideas of hairdoos or styles that I can wear my hair in to make it look better? Any techniques, secrets, or products I can use? HELP!

This may sound silly but buy a Toni Bratten product thru HSN. She has all kinds of pieces of hair you can clip into yours to make it look fuller and thicker.

no product will help you sorry to say the only way is so shave your head to skin my sister did and her hair doubled in thickness it's hard to do but wont take long to grow. Wear a natural looking wig for a while

You have described my hair except for the color. Perms were the best way for me. I only got them because they really made my hair look full and it was sooooo much easier to style. If you go this route make sure you get someone who really knows what their doing. My first perm was a disaster. But after that I was hooked! Perms are expensive but well worth the money!!! We seem to find money for the things we really want. Good luck with your search for a solution!

I would reccomend getting hotrollers and taking the time to put them in..it won't take long....spray some spray gel...let them sit 10 min...take them out and pull a piece or 2 back with a couple of bobby pins so they don't go flat.Sebastian Shaper spray is great for fine hair as well and don't over wash it!!

My mom had fine hair like that. She hated it for many years, then realized it was her best feature. Yes, she was always looking for products and styles that improved body. But it wasn't till the last decade of her life that she started believing all the compliments on her hair.

Play the game, find whatever works for you. Try to turn it around and see it as an asset instead of a handicap. If it matters to you at all, lots of men prefer women with fine hair.

A cut that is mostly blunt, rather than layers, should make the hair its thickest. Frequent trimming of ends also helps. You may be able to afford some bangs or a small amount of tapering around the front, and if you have that much that isn't just blunt-across-the-bottom the shorter pieces create the illusion of having a little more hair. They are lighter and and can be brushed back if you want.

I think the best product is a volumizing shampoo and hair-spray. Don't use conditioner unless your hair is particularly damaged, and then only use about a dime-sized amount or less. I'm happy with the the VO5 Spa Treatment Volumizing shampoo I buy for about a dollar. Pantene has a very nice volumizing shampoo as well. I've found that the Dove Volumizing Hair Spray and Pantene Volumizing Hair Spray and/or Mist help.

A cut that doesn't require a curling iron too often is better because the curling iron damages the hair and makes ends split. You may want to try not lathering the hair twice when shampooing. I'm imagining if you have fine hair you wash it daily, so the double-lathering may make it too soft. Double-lather if the hair has had extra spraying for some reason.

Another approach other than the above, more natural, approach would be to get some easy-to-sleep on curlers, use a little Dippity-Do or Dep gel, and have fuller hair without worrying about building up layers of volumizing spray.

Because length weighs down fine hair, the best length if probably at just below chin length. If the hair is cut blunt and you set it on curlers with gel you should end up with a fluffier and slightly shorter hair-do (which, if you want, you could then comb or brush out to be less tight).

Try a chin lenghth bob and straighten ur hair everyday it will help tremendousley!

Use shampoo for "color treated hair" because it is gentler and doesn't build up. Try Herbal Essences. Use a lightweight conditioner KMS silker ($8) or Dove (don't use deep conditioner), or Back To Basics Apple Ginsing ($7). Use all products sparingly on fine hair, and rinse thoroughly.

If you like it wavy, use your blowdryer on high near the roots to somewhat dry it. Then, twist it tightly into a granny-bun on top of your head. Sleep on it, or wait until dry. When you take it out, don't brush it but finger-tousle it. Spray with flexible hold hairspray. Then spray with a spritz of shine spray.

If you like it straight, use a straightening balm (sparingly) when wet, comb through. Then dry the roots with hairdryer and pin into sections. Dry around a large round brush, holding hairdryer close to hair as to not separate the hair cuticles. Spray with shine spray (Bed Head Tigi $17 works best) or (CitriShine $5).

For wavy, use as little product as possible. For straight, weigh it down and smooth it with balm and shine spray.

If you like the middle part, draw a zig-zag with your fingernail and separate into a zig-zag part. If you don't like parts, pin part of it back with a cute clip.

For really wavy, sleep with your hair in a french braid.

getting layers and angles ALWAYS gives the hair shape and body

%26amp; you can use volumizing shampoos and conditoiners (pantene's my fave)

and when you're blowdrying your hair after a shower:

1- flip your hair over and let the air push the roots of your hair upwards (this way you're almost un-doing gravity)

2- flip your hair over again so you're not lurching forward anymore

3- brush your hair and if there's any "weird bends," just straigten that little portion of that little hair out, not any more than you need (straigtening your hair with a flat iron flattens your hair)

4- flip your hair over so you're lurching forward again, brush your hair from mane to your forehead (again, un-doing gravity)

5- flip your hair over for the LAST time %26amp; just move it around for a sec so it's the way you want it to be but DO NOT brush your hair when your hair isnt flipped over after this, or it'll be like un-doing the whole process

*it doesn't hurt to spray your hair with hairspray while it's flipped over, as long as the spray isn't one of those "turn flowy hair into stone" hairspray
