How can I have nice hair?

I have medium long dark brown hair that is the poofy/wavy/curly texture. Tips on products, treatments, and styling for a college student who shops at walmart/target and doesnt want to devote hours? please avoid or minimalize heat styling suggestions. I am just out for suggestions because it seems as if no matter what i do my hair is always a disaster. most of the time when i do my hair, it just looks like i rolled out of bed and walked out, so i usually end up just putting it up or braiding it. thanks everyone!

- Read the book and visit the sites below about curly hair. I did and my once horrible curly hair is now virtually frizz-free ringlets. Now I get compliments on my hair all the time! Straighten your hair- be happy for a day, learn to manage your curly hair- be happy for life!

- To style your hair using the curly-girl method you will need gel and conditioner at the minimum. Some less useful, but still nice stuff would be a blowdryer, a diffuser (reduces frizz in curly/wavy hair when used with dryer), and a microfiber hair turban (to dry wet hair overnight or in the morning).

-The main philosophy of the curly-girl method is to not use shampoo. This may sound unhygenic but it has actually made my hair less oily and dandruffy. Most shampoos contain some of the same chemicals found in laundry detergent (aka sulfates). They dry out curly hair. Also you shouldn't brush your curly hair dry because it damages the hair and makes it poof.

- Massaging of the scalp with conditioner to remove dirt is all that is needed. It will clean everything but super clingy silicones. Then rinse and spread conditioner on the outside layer of hair and the hair at the nape of your neck. Gently comb tangles out with your fingers or a wide toothed comb and rinse with cold/cool water.

-Do not brush/comb your hair after this point because it wil disturb the curl pattern (make sure you already have a part). It is also important to use gel on sopping wet hair and scrunch the hair with your fingers. Use a towel or paper towels to gently scrunch some of the water out. Then let your hair air dry or wait ten minutes and then use a blowdryer with a diffuser. Do not touch the hair while it is air drying or it will frizz!

- Use a moisturizing conditioner, such as Desert Essence Organics Italian Red Grape Conditioner (found at health food/organic stores). The combo of products that I use daily is Garnier Fuctis Sleek and Shine Leave In Cream, then Aussie Tizz No Frizz Gel, and then Herbal Essences Set Me Up Gel but there are more conditioners, gels, etc. on the websites.

- Your hair may seem worse at first, but it is just adjusting. This takes 2 to 4 weeks begin working. This is hard to do if you don't read the book, or at least visit the websites. Naturally curly hair can be beautiful! Hope this helps!

Sunsilk de-poof or whatever it's called. It makes my hair pretty smooth, but not straight, and it makes it not-frizzy.

How can I have nice hair?

I use a product called silicon mix(just type in on search nand will bring up the site that sells it)Cost about 17.99 for 32 OZ. My hair is very kinky and curly but after using this product....I can comb my hair through without having to use a load of products on my hair....its like butter. I hope this helps

If you have natural wave/curl, the best thing is to not fight it, but go with it and encourage it. It takes the least time and effort with no damage or heat involved. After washing and conditioning, comb with a large toothed comb. Put in your hair a mousse or lightweight gel. Make sure to get it through your hair evenly! (Most people tend to blob in one spot). Flip head over, scrunch. Either air dry or dry on low speed setting with a diffuser. As it air dries DO NOT TOUCH-this causes frizz! If you notice as it's drying that it's starting to frizz, spray lightly with a spray gel/curl enhancing product. The hard thing to get used to with leaving hair curly is not touching it too much and/or brushing.....

Carol's Daughter!

Best product around...you'll have to go online but this stuff works! Try the "Lisa's Hair Elixir", it makes the texture of your hair workable and healthy.

(And it doesn't make your hair all greasy)

Ah, you have my hair type! Alright, if you want a non-frizzy curly look, I suggest purchasing curl defining mousse (any brand works, my favorite is Dove), curl defining gel (I suggest Garnier Fructise "Hard Curl") and scrunching hair spray (I like Aussi "Sprunch"). Wash your hair and towel dry it. Comb out any tangles. then, apply LOTS of mousse, then LOTS of gel and the a fair amount of spray. Then scrunch your hair, drying it with a diffuser. The slower you dry it, the less frizzy it will be. Remember to keep your receipt so you can return any products that don't work for you!! longs will let you return anything, I suggest shopping there. The key is finding the right products!

If you want straight styles, I like the Maxi Glide hair straightener. however this costs $60 and may not be practical for you.

Good luck!

I have the same hair! I get it washed really good and brush it inside and out like a billion time. Then sometimes i straighten it and then it looks good, but i also put it up in braids, and clips.

Hope it looks great!!!!!!!!1
